Within the OhioMeansJobs Centers are multiple agencies that may be able to assist in paying tuition, books, and/or fees for post secondary education. Some of these agencies administer Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) monies, Trade Adjustment Assistance and Veterans (ODJFS), Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, and local county monies.  Please contact your local OMJ Center if you are interested in seeking tuition assistance from one or all of the agencies within your local center:

An OMJ tuition assistance program may cover up to $9,500 for tuition, books & fees as well as any other items that are required for your career training program.  Funds are disbursed according to agency policy.  The Mahoning & Columbiana Training Association (MCTA) or your local Ohio Means Jobs (OMJ) will assist applicants in determining eligibility.

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD)

The OOD, Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) provides individuals with disabilities services and supports necessary to help them attain and maintain employment. Services are customized for each individual through assessments and one-on-one meetings with professional Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors. VR services are available in all 88 counties and may include:
  • Educational guidance (tuition resources and other support)
  • Occupational tools and equipment
  • Personal attendant services (reader, interpreter, etc.)
