Canfield, Ohio – The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, Adult Career Center* is pleased to announce the launch of its new Veterinary Assistant Program, designed to prepare students for careers in the fast-growing veterinary field.

This five-month program provides students with the essential skills to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in dynamic clinical environments. The curriculum covers veterinary fundamentals, animal care, pharmacology, lab procedures, radiology, and surgical assisting. Students will complete 150 hours of in-class instruction, including hands-on training with live animals and diagnostic lab procedures. Upon completion, graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions at veterinary clinics, specialty hospitals, and research facilities. Additional career opportunities may be available at animal shelters, pet daycares, boarding facilities, grooming salons, laboratories, and zoos. The program also serves as a career pathway for those interested in furthering their education in Veterinary Technology or other animal-related degrees.
