Valley STEM Clubs

Clubs and organizations are awesome because they give students opportunities to explore their passions, connect with others who have similar interests, and have fun!

Student Council

Club Advisor - Miss Brock

Valley STEM Academy Student Council works to create a positive environment at Valley STEM by promoting kindness, hard work, and school spirit. Valley STEM Student Council brainstorms, creates, and hosts fun events for STEM students that take place throughout the school year, such as a Valley STEM t-shirt sale, a hot chocolate social, a school dance, and much more!

Youngstown State University English Festival

Club Advisor- Miss Brock

The YSU English Festival club consists of 9th and 10th grade Valley STEM students that are interested in participating in the annual YSU English Festival. Students in the club read around seven to eight books throughout the course of the school year, go on a field trip to the English festival at Valley STEM, and have the option to participate in art and writing competitions for book and monetary prizes.

Robotics Club

Club Advisor- Mr. L

Robotics is an opportunity for students to design, build, program, and compete against other local students. Students will have an opportunity to test and advance these skills in a competition based environment. Competition Focuses Three major focuses for students competing in robotics; Vex Robotics - Students will compete in the Mahoning Valley Vex League as well as at least the Mahoning Valley Vex Qualifier Competition; NEOREP - Students will compete in a Lego based robotics competition presented by Youngstown State University SkillsUSA - Students can compete in one of multiple robotics based competitions. Students get an opportunity to compete at the regional and state level.

Skills USA Club

Club Advisor- Mr. L

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Students can compete in trade programs such as: CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, CNC Technician, Automated Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Additive Manufacturing. Students may also compete in design/engineering events: Tech Prep Showcase, Engineering and Design, Chapter Display, Community Service, and soft skill competitions such as speech, interview and many others.

LGBT Club

Club Advisor- Miss Brock

LQBTQ+ club is a safe space where students can gather to share interests and generate ideas to promote equality and mental health awareness.

Valley STEM + ME2 Academy

The Valley STEM + ME2 Academy’s mission is to prepare students in 9-10 grade with skills necessary to compete in the global economy while nurturing the characteristics of discovery, invention, application, and entrepreneurship.
