Mahoning County Career & Technical Center for students in grades 6th-8th. Choose one subject: Advanced Manufacturing, Digital Print & Design, Cosmetology, Culinary, Engineering, Exercise Science, Farm Camp, Truck & Diesel Welding. Robotics.

MCCTC Summer Camp Information

  • When: June 17th - 19th

Advanced Manufacturing

Mr. Lutz

Students will engage in and learn the following areas: General Shop Safety, Manual Mill Safety, Manual Mill Operations, CNC Mill Safety, Basic G-code programming, and CNC Mill operations


Mrs. Ramhoff

Students will learn braiding, curling, and flat ironing techniques for hair. Students will also learn manicures and mini facials along with hand and arm massage.


Chef Putzier

Students will prepare multiple recipes each day in an effort to teach a wide variety of culinary concepts. Each class will be full of hands on cooking experience and recipe tasting/development using an assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, and grains. Students will work in teams to prepare food for the whole class to sample, all while covering a wide range of cooking skills like grilling, sauteing, baking, basic culinary measurements and knife skills.

Digital Print & Design

Miss McGinnis

Take a dive into graphic arts with Digital Print & Design. Get hands on experience working with adobe software in design, typography, and photo manipulation then explore the world of vinyl work with cutting & creating your own window decal.


Mr. Davis

(Held in Sander’s Collision Lab)

Students who sign up for Engineering will build an actual working Amphibious 6-Wheeled ATV from the ground up. When the ATV is completed they will be given the chance to ride in it and learn how to drive it! During the project, students will be exposed to shop safety, working with hand tools, 2-stroke engines, variable speed clutches, sprockets, chains, and how changing the number of teeth on a sprocket affects the speed and torque of the ATV. Learning to work as a team is also a large part of the project. This project is very hands on.

Exercise Science

Mr. Capan

Exercise Science will be covering overall understanding of training strategies, injury prevention, and athletic competition. Students will expand knowledge of pre, during, and post training exercises as well as compete in athletic events fun for all students!

Farm Camp

The MCCTC School Farm Summer Camp will give participants the chance to work on the school farm, planting their own raised beds with the opportunity to return throughout the summer to care for and harvest their crops. Participants will also learn about organic farming methods, composting, and home gardening. We will also spend some time in the greenhouse to learn about the germination process. We will spend as much time outdoors as the weather allows us.


Mr. Baber

Students in the robotics camp will learn to build, program and operate robots to perform various tasks using VEX robotics. Students will be introduced to robotics through a program developed by MIT called Scratch where they will be able to animate an object by dragging blocks of code onto the screen. Students will then build a robot out of VEX parts designed to complete a series of simple challenges that the students will learn to write a program for.

Truck and Diesel

Mr. Merritt

Students will be learning Ives Forklift Training, Boom Lift Training, through hands-on instruction with an emphasis on safety.


Mr. Naples

Students will learn explanations of torches, gases, hoses, consumables, and operation of torch setup, and basic stick welding. safety being the number one priority.
