Biotechnology is a new Two-year program science using living cells and materials produced by cells to create pharmaceutical, diagnostic, agricultural, environmental and other products to benefit society. It is both a cutting-edge technology and an applied science. Analysts have predicted that biotechnology will be one of the most important applied sciences of the 21st century. Students selected for this program must have a strong academic background, especially in science.
Biotechnology/Biomedical Research and Design is the study of careers invovled in therapeutic and medical device resarch and development. This field includes biotechnology research and developement that applies to human health.

Upon completion of the high school portion of the program students may pursue a bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry at Youngstown State University. Students may earn up to 16 hours of articulated credit.
